Kenn, Devon

An extension to a timber frame house in a Devon village, sensitively designed to compliment the original house and creatively respond to its site.

The extension to this house doubles the footprint of the property and transforms the internal layout as well as the connection that the house has with the outdoors.  The project creates an open plan kitchen and dining space with 2 bedrooms and an en-suite adding to the existing accommodation at first floor.

The extension reaches out to the natural connection between house and garden whilst also harnessing views across the rural landscape and the village centre.

The timber construction and envelope responds to the original home whilst using a fresh material palette and provides an excellent fabric performance.
