This rear extension has transformed this 1930's semi detached house on the outskirts of Lympstone. The extension was the final phase of a refurbishment ‘master plan’ put together by Hilton Barnfield Architects and realised over a period of three years.
The new addition ties together the kitchen and dining room (knocked through as phase one), with the garage (now converted to a workshop) and the garden.
A raised rear patio creates a significantly improved connection with the garden offering level access from the kitchen and dining room to the new outside space. Bifold doors and a level threshold with power floated concrete floor inside and really help to remove the boundaries between inside and out. A large roof light floods the space with natural light while the glulam beams draw the eye out towards the garden and views of the countryside beyond.
