Extending this Victorian terrace and opening up the existing dining room has added a new dimension to this small city centre home.
The existing house featured a dark dining room with a small kitchen extending into the garden and a lean to conservatory extension. This project replaced the lean to with a modern glass extension whilst knocking down internal walls to create one large open plan space.
The project had to be delivered on a very tight budget and Hilton Barnfield Architects worked carefully with the contractor to ensure that this could be achieved without compromising the client’s aspirations. Built in storage units and a hand built kitchen were included in the works to create a cohesive feeling to the space. Existing painted brick work was left exposed to add character to the space whilst new brickwork was left unfinished as a feature.
