A striking contemporary home designed by Architects in Devon, Whitehouse takes full benefit of stunning views of the South Hams coast
A striking contemporary home designed by Architects in Devon, Whitehouse takes full benefit of stunning views of the South Hams coast. The clever use of double height spaces and lightwells make this three bedroom house feel wonderfully spacious despite its modest footprint. This new build architectural design, boasts spectacular views of the neighbouring hillside as well as the South Devon coastline and Slapton Ley to the east.
Hilton Barnfield, overcame the privacy and access difficulties in a number of ways, including designing the house’s timber fins to create partially private outside spaces. The house design is sensitive to the local street scene and moves from the public areas of the house at the front, to the more private spaces at the back – the differing sculpted ceilings reflecting this difference. A luxurious modern space at first floor level, with sliding doors, leads from a soft seating space – for reading and relaxing – to a balcony and creates a further threshold to invite the outside in, with tremendous views over the lake. The layout of the space is optimised to respond to its setting and orientation, the clients are able to enjoy a morning coffee in sunshine overlooking the lake and can watch the sun go down from their dining and living rooms.
Smart technology by Intelligent Abodes and artistic lighting design by Amos Lighting add to the intensely modern and sleek feeling inside this beautiful home. The relationship between inside and out is complimented by sensitive design and landscaping by South Hams Landscaping.
