This small contemporary infill extension to a cottage in Lympstone, Devon connects the original property to an old sail loft, greatly improving connectivity through the house. The clients live on the outskirts of London so Hilton Barnfield took full responsibility for managing the construction phase of the project liaising with the contractor and the client to ensure a smooth process and a successfully delivered project.

The combined effect of the warm, natural timber furnishings illuminated by plenty of natural light flooding the space from above creates an incredibly comforting and whole atmosphere. The once, disconnected and underutilized space becomes a core element of the two volumes.
